Cut (at Palazzo Hotel & Casino)

“Steak lovers, rejoice! Master Chef Wolfgang Puck’s critically acclaimed, award-winning restaurant CUT is now in Las Vegas. CUT presents a contemporary twist on the classic steakhouse. From USDA Prime Nebraska corn-fed, 35-day dry-aged steaks to Japanese 100% Wagyu Beef, CUT caters to true steak connoisseurs. At CUT’s bar and lounge, guests can find a smaller menu featuring CUT’s signature appetizers such as the Mini Kobe Sliders and Tuna Tartare Sandwiches.

Widely acknowledged as one of the most popular restaurants in the United States, CUT has raised the bar within the fine dining industry and has garnered high praise from prestigious publications including the New York Times, Los Angeles Times (Three Stars), Wall Street Journal and Wine Spectator and was named one of the top three steakhouses in America by Bon Appétit Magazine.” -http://www.palazzolasvegas.com/cut.aspx

We have eaten at the Bar and Lounge at Cut; the service and food were awesome! The Bar and Lounge is a great place to have desserts and wine – we went with our good friends Laura and Dan - the desserts are scrumptious and a great place to people watch and enjoy hanging out with good friends.

We’ve also had the pleasure of enjoying the Bone Marrow Flan, Mushroom Marmalade, Parsley Salad and the Maple Glazed Pork Belly, Asian Spices, Sesame-Orange Dressing, Winterlla Pear Compote at the Bar and Lounge – both are a must try appetizer!

Valentino (at Venetian Hotel & Casino)

“Valentino Las Vegas is a jewel in the Las Vegas desert. With a prime location in the prestigious Venetian Hotel & Casino, Valentino Las Vegas, the sister restaurant to the classic original in Santa Monica, remains the premier Italian restaurant in Las Vegas. Award-winning chef Luciano Pellegrini leads the kitchen of both Valentino and the casual Grill at Valentino, personally overseeing the daily changing menus and supervising the preparation of his inspired tasting menus. Six separate private rooms and a Chef’s Table, along with Selvaggio’s expansive wine collection, offer guests the best destination for special event planning or simply an enchanted evening for two.”

The Grill at Valentino

“The Grill at Valentino’s central location off the Venetian Casino is an ideal choice for spontaneous dining. The Grill allows guests to enjoy favorite Italian dishes and simply grilled foods in an environment that is relaxed and casual. Terrace dining allows the best in people watching and a full dining room brings the same exemplary service practiced in Valentino’s main room. The menu, served throughout the day, makes The Grill a great option for early or post-performance dining at the Venetian.” –http://www.pieroselvaggio.com/valentinolv/

We have dined at both ‘locations’ – DELICIOUS, the best Italian food in Las Vegas! In the main dining area we had the Chef ‘pick our dinner.’ The Grill at Valentino’s– it quick, easy, and of course yummy!

Settebello Pizzeria Napoletana

June 7, 2009

We love this place! We go to Settebello's for lunch on Sundays :) You have to try the Misto and the gelatto.

History - taken from their website http://www.settebello.net/Vegas/main.html

Settebello Pizzeria Napoletana was created in 2005 to bring an authentic Napoli style pizza to the Las Vegas area. Owner Brad Otton was trained as a pizzaiolo in Napoli by renowned pizzaiolo Enzo Coccia. Signore Coccia was one of the original founding members of the Vera Pizza Napoletana organization created to preserve the history and integrity of the Napoletana pizza making process. He is currently one of the directors of the Pizzaiuoli Napoletani organization as well as owner and operator of his pizzeria called La Notizia.

WHY "SETTEBELLO"
Settebello is the most valuable and sought after card in the popular Italian card game scopa. A deck of scopa cards consists of 40 separate cards in 4 different suits. The suits include clubs, swords, cups and gold. The Settebello is the nickname given to the seven of gold.

Whichever player holds the settebello at the end of a hand is awarded a point. The settebello can also aid a player in winning a point for the primiera as well as for the player who holds the most gold cards. A typical game of scopa is played to 11 points. Scopa is an extremely popular card game in and around Napoli.
